Prince Siddhartha's real name is Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha was born in the northern part of India, and born in about 563 B.C.E. His mother was the Queen Maya, and his father was the powerful king. Queen Maya had a dream the night before Siddhartha was born. In her dream, there was a white elephant with six tusks. Siddhartha's parents asked the Brahmins to explain her dream. They told her, "You are carrying a child who will be a great man." For their son being a prince he could rule the universe, or he could discover the sufferings and become a Buddha. Siddhartha was born in a garden, and stories have been told about his birth in that garden and that there were soft, warm rain of heavenly flowers fell over Siddhartha and the queen.
Prince's father wanted him to become a great and powerful leader or ruler. The king decided to protect Siddhartha from seeing the horrors of life and the suffering. If prince saw the suffering that might take away his rule and power. Servants took care of Siddhartha and made sure his life was okay and enjoyable, which the prince did enjoy his easy life. However, the prince also wondered about what was outside in the world. When Siddhartha became 16, he married a beautiful young noblewoman. They lived together in peace for 12 years, and had a son when Siddhartha turned 29 years old. After he had a son his father gave him more freedom to travel outside the palace. When he went outside the palace, Prince Siddhartha discovered the three types of suffering. After the prince saw the sufferings he became the special Buddha. The Buddha had many talents and responsibilities. Then, the Buddha was then made into a statue. Modern Buddhists make religious beliefs and medatate with/in front of the Buddha statue.
